General Information
You may have heard the term rough sawn (or rough cut) lumber before. What it essentially means is that this lumber type is cut into planks and comes directly from the sawmill.
Dimensions on these boards may be inconsistent and tolerances on both the width and thickness can typically run -0", +.50".
The planks are thicker than surfaced/planed wood and provide customers with added versatility for any project.
Pros and Cons - Like any other building material, there are some potential pros and cons to be aware of.
As mentioned earlier, rough sawn planks are typically thicker than standard surfaced woods and also heavier, making them a good option where strength and sturdiness are concerned.
Additionally, you may potentially need to take extra time to properly plane, flatten and finish a rough sawn plank to get it to the exact size you need.
Quality
Standard and Better is the typical grade for most truck trailer or industrial applications. In tropical hardwood this means few if any knots, no structural defects, and scattered pin hole is allowed. We inspect all shipments of material at the source with our own quality control personnel.
